Your First Appointment

As you walk into our office, you will immediately sense the calm and spa-like atmosphere.  At your first visit, you will be greeted by our friendly staff. Usually a complete set of digital x-rays will be taken by our certified x-ray technician.  Then a detailed examination of the teeth and soft tissues is done by your dentist. This is your opportunity to express your needs and expectations from your dentist.  If you are interested in cosmetic or anti-aging dentistry you will be further assessed for such enhancements.

We understand you are making a very important decision about your smile that will be with you the rest of your life.  We will provide you with detailed, individualized information to help you make an informed, intelligent decision.  This includes presentation of customized treatment options, educational DVD’s and brochures, financial estimates, and payment plan options.

Dental Insurance

Here at Vineyard Dental we believe that you deserve the best care. That is why you are always presented with the best dental solution to treat you individual situation. Every year we provide outstanding care to thousands of people. Some patients have dental care, but most do not. If you do have dental benefits then you are very fortunate. Below is some important information that you should know:

Your individual dental benefits are based on a contract made between the insurance company and your employer. Any questions regarding your benefits should be addressed with you r employer or insurance company.

Dental benefits differ from medical benefits. In 1959, many dental plans had a maximum amount of $1,000. Even today, most dental benefit plans still have a yearly maximum of $1,000. On average, there have been no adjustments to yearly maximums in 40 years while premiums continue to rise! Dental benefits are meant to only assist you and not pay for the completion of your dental care.  Many individuals receive notification from their dental insurance company that dental fees are above usual and customary. Insurance companies determine their reimbursement level from surveys of geographical areas, calculating average fees, and then making the determination that 80% of the average fee is customary. Surveys usually include dental clinics and managed care facilities, which have lower fees that affect the average. Therefore, most dentists in private practice will have fees that are defined by insurance companies as higher than usual and customary.

Many dental plans indicate coverage of services up to 80% or even 100% but do not clearly indicate the fee schedule or maximum limits. On average, it is more in line to anticipate dental benefit plans to cover between 55%-65% of dental services. The maximum amount that a dental plan pays has been pre-determined by your employer.

At Vineyard Dental, we will do our best to coordinate your insurance benefits so that your dental plan covers the maximum allowable for the services that are provided. As a courtesy, we can also submit any necessary paperwork on your behalf to help you in your payment from your dental insurance company.

Always remember that excellent dental care is provided with or without dental insurance.
